Cherkassy - picturesque Ukrainian city on the right coast of Dnepr. It is the administrative, economic, scientific and cultural centre of the Cherkassy area.

The city has arisen in the end of XIII century, on the territory occupied before by Scythian and Slavic tribes, and became an advanced post of the Kiev Russia during the Tatar-Mongolian invasion. There were first Cossack settlements in XVII century in Cherkassy. The huge part of history Cherkassy is connected with emancipating wars and revolts of Cossacks.

As during invasions and wars the city was ruined again and again, no architectural historical monuments have practically left in Cherkassy. However the Cherkassy earth involves a significant amount of tourists with the historical and reserved places.
