Mykolaiv was founded by Grigory Potemkin’s decree in 1788 as a ship-building shipyard on the river Ingul. The name Nikolaev it received in honor of a fortress Ochakov capture by Russian armies in day of Saont Nikolay.
On official data of the current statistical account Nikolaev City Council, the city population has made 500 500 persons on 1.04.2010. Administratively the city is divided into 4 areas: Tsentralniy, Zavodskoy, Leninskiy and Korabelniy.
According to UMM data, Mykolaevi opens 2nd ten of cities on percentage distribution of budgets in the outdoor advertising of Ukraine — 2% from the general budgets.
In 2006 “RTM-Ukraine” got the local operator of the outdoor advertising company "SigmaSportInvest".
